Founded out of love

Picture
Ollie was among a 2am rescue after a track trainer dropped off 24 greyhounds at the county pound for euthenasia. Ollie's extreme fear of humans made him the last to find a home one year later. With a lot of patience and love from his forever home, Ollie became the love of their life and, through meetings at local pet stores, he helps spread the word about how great it can be to take one into your life.
_GAL was founded by the Tracys in 1984 as the humane answer to the question of "Where do the greyhounds go when they stop racing?" GAL now represents the efforts of an ever-growing volunteer community who have successfully worked to find homes for thousands of Tucson's retired racing greyhounds. Please join us as someone who gives a forever home to one of our adoptees.

Over 30 years ago, Gary and Lorri recognized the need to find an alternative to an unspeakable end at the hands of trainers who needed to dispose of them before they could bring in another greyhound who might win the next race. So Gary and Lorri founded GAL, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that rescued the greyhounds as they retired, got them needed medical attention to prepare them for their future life as a pet, and matched them up to families throughout the southwestern United States. To date, GAL's volunteers have been able to find homes for up to 400 greyhounds per year.

Join us in our efforts! Helping these greyhounds is satisfying; you’ll know that you’ve contributed to a working dog finally being able to learn to play, taste it’s first treat, or investigate it’s first back yard freely and with great joy. These beautiful, gentle dogs make wonderful pets, and you'll rarely find a home with just one.

_Greyhound Adoption League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are not only welcomed but are tax deductible.
